Do you have an ink dependence? I can help...

Diamine Soft Mint

9/28/13
This is a review that I wrote up a couple of months ago. I posted the video to YouTube, and I guess I forgot to actually write a review for the site. Well, here it is!

Diamine's Soft Mint is a pretty cool ink. It's both bright and soft. It's readable and well-behaved on the page. I didn't see any shading with it, but I was using a fine nib on the Diplomat to test it out. There would probably be some shading with a broader nib. I would have tried that, but I actually used up my whole sample, so I can't.

You've seen the results of the water test in the pictures above, but here's the video nonetheless.

Michael - your photos look like Diamaine Soft Mint DOES shade. Maybe the shading is not as pronounced in person. I think it is a great color. Thanks.

I think that's really just the ink pooling a little bit on the Rhodia paper. Also, I really zoomed in on the text, so it shows more detail than you'll see in general. I remember that it doesn't show any shading on more absorbent papers.

What's the "Diamine funk" you mention?

I've had issues in the past with Diamine inks producing gunk on my nibs/feeds. I think it reacts with the air in some way, and looks gross. It's not harmful, but it's weird. Check out the Diamine Meadow review for a picture.
